Two Ways to Release Endorphins in the Body

All people naturally want to feel happy and complete.  Some people even go to the extent of using artificial means like drugs and other non-natural approaches to feel happy and relaxed.  A few are aware though that the body has its own natural apothecary located inside the brain.   The brain has a chemical much more potent than any type of narcotic or sedative around that causes a great feeling of tranquility and relaxation when it is released in the bloodstream, this chemical is endorphin and it is the body’s so-called feel-good chemical.  Endorphins are infinitely much safer than using drugs and pharmaceuticals and besides making the person happy tranquil and relaxed, they also are the body’s own natural painkillers as well.

Endorphins are considered opioid chemicals because of their painkilling and mood enhancing effect.  They are manufactured in the pituitary gland as a reaction to a series of factors some of which include pleasurable situations such as orgasm and eating, strenuous activity, danger and stress among others.  One can produce and release endorphins through the following ways:

  1. Exercise – At least 20 minutes of continuous vigorous exercise can bring about the release of endorphins in the bloodstream.  Endorphins are what causes a term called ‘runner’s high’, a state of mind often experienced by marathon and other long distance runners.  Some of these runners and other exercise buffs do what they do precisely to just experience this kind of “high.”  Long-distance running is not the only way to experience this though.  Almost all types of exercises when done earnestly and for at least 20 minutes or more can generate this type of feeling.  Exercises to help release endorphins should be moderate to strenuous and long; workouts of less than 20 minutes no matter how vigorous will not produce the same results.
  2. Acupuncture – Palm Harbor Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years and has been used for many types of human health conditions.  Its most famous benefits are the treatment of pain and of treating many types of behavioral or chemical addiction.   Acupuncture works through the insertion of very thin but sharp needles into specific points in the skin in which lie energy vessels called meridians.  Because of its incredible ability to block pain, acupuncture is used as an anesthetic for major surgeries where the patient needs to be conscious while undergoing the operation.  It is now widely believed that acupuncture does stimulate the production and release of endorphins as evidenced in its pain relieving attributes.  Most people will likely not avail of acupuncture to just get naturally high but if they are under considerable pain and want to be treated in a safe, drugless and natural way, then acupuncture is one very good approach to consider.
